32 Weeks

As of 3:17 a.m. today, I am more pregnant than I have ever been.  Avery was born at exactly 32 weeks and I remember that day like it was yesterday.  Today has been surreal.  Thinking back on our little girl, and looking forward to our little boy.  I can't believe we have made it this far.  Only 2 more weeks and we will be able to deliver in Cedar City.  When we had Avery, we had to get special permission from a couple of different specialists up in Salt Lake first.  They had to look at her ultrasounds and determine whether or not her condition was 100% lethal.  If there was any chance that she could survive, they would have insisted that we deliver in St. George or at another hospital with a higher level NICU.  We were able to get the okay to deliver in Cedar the day my water broke.  Hearing them tell me that 2 different specialists had agreed that my daughter was definitely going to die, well that wasn't easy to hear but we were glad that Dr. S would be able to deliver her. (He is the reason we have such great pictures too.  He stayed to take them and then photoshopped each one)  He has been with us through our entire journey and it just wouldn't be right if he couldn't deliver Sawyer too.  I haven't told him this yet but I am going to throw a mighty large fit if I go into labor on a weekend when he isn't on call.  I think I'd better warn him about that soon!!

How far along: 32 Weeks!

Size of baby: This week your baby weighs almost four pounds and could be up to 19 inches long. And though that's a head-to-toe length, your baby is actually back to a curled-up position (you try standing up in those cramped quarters!). At 32 weeks pregnant, you're likely feeling tapping and squirming (yea that's an understatement) instead of your baby's signature rocking and rolling. That's because, while comfy, your baby is a bit tight for exercise space right now. Your baby has also probably settled into the head-down, bottoms-up position in your pelvis in preparation for birth.

Weight gain: 22 pounds. (that's a guess.. I don't get weighed until Thursday and it's been 2 weeks!)

Maternity clothes: Mostly. Some of my longer shirts still fit and may until I deliver!  Although I do seem to be growing out of some of my maternity clothes... I wish it would get warm already so I could live in my gauchos and flip flops!

Gender: BOY!!

Movement: Wow! Have we been feeling a lot of movement... and seeing it too!  It seems as though he is trying to get out! He pushes and stretches constantly and sometimes it hurts!  Especially when he decides to punch, or push down on, my cervix.  Owee!

Sleep: Oh I am so tired! It has become very hard to get comfortable and stay comfortable.  It has also become hard to breathe while I am lying down so I have to prop myself up on a lot of pillows!  I won't lie, sleep is one of my favorite things in the world, but I am still very happy to be pregnant and I will deal with this minor inconvenience.  I know it's only going to get worse so I sleep when and where I can!

Symptoms: Back pain, feet and hands swelling, heartburn, headaches, braxton hicks, occasional cramping, gas, constipation, itchy skin, acne (bad acne), ... the list goes on and on but to be honest... I LOVE IT!!

Cravings: Everything!  Pastry Pub salads have been at the top of the list as well as the Heads or Tails Oreos.. Yummy!

Best moment this week: We've almost gotten through 2 weeks without seeing Dr. S (and we only called once).  That is a huge deal for me!!  It also seems that Sawyer is much more active and I have loved feeling him move around.

What I am looking forward to: Seeing how things are going this week at my appt. with Dr. S.  I am curious to see if I have dilated any more ( I have been feeling "contractions" and have had to take the evil drug a few times).  I am hoping Dr. S will tell me that we still have a ways to go because Skeet will be leaving town for a few days and I don't want him to be gone and me go into labor! That would suck!  Plus, I am going to sign up for our childbirth classes this week!  Skeet will miss the first one unfortunately, but I am curious to see how he does with them! I think it will be a reality check for both of us! (yes I know we have done child birth before, but we haven't done the "taking the child home" part so we are hoping for some help with that).

Woo hoo for 32 weeks! You are doing awesome! You may be feeling Braxton Hicks contractions now, so that is more normal.
